Have fun and stay safe this New Year’s Eve
Thu, Dec 31, 2009 | Auto Accident
Tonight’s the night we’ve all been waiting for, it’s that time when we can look ahead to a new year beginning and make the resolutions we hope we’ll stay true to.
No one tends to think about the negative things that will go on tonight, but car accidents will happen and personal injury almost always follows. The roads will be dangerous tonight, due to drunk and rowdy drivers. We’re asking that you stay alert and pay extra attention to your surroundings tonight. Especially while driving home from your celebrations after midnight, which many people will be doing. Car accidents involving alcohol are five times more likely to occur at night. Drive cautiously, unfortunately, many drivers will be under the influence of alcohol, causing them to drive eratically and some will be extremely exhausted, causing them to fall asleep at the wheel.
New Year’s Eve night has the second largest number of drunk driving fatalities when it comes to holiday celebrations. If you see what you suspect is a drunk driver and you have a phone available to you, do the right thing:
• Dial the local highway patrol or police department
• Get the license plate number of the car
• Let the authorities know that you suspect a drunk driver
• Give your location
It is worth those few minutes of your time to save that drunk driver from hurting themselves and/or others.
Don’t let these thoughts ruin your good time! But when the time comes for you to get behind the wheel, be responsible and get home safely. From everyone at 1-800-411-PAIN… Happy New Year!!
